How to Use Those Thanksgiving Leftovers

It is the end of Thanksgiving day and now you are the one who is stuffed instead of the turkey. You’ve passed the plate all around thetable. It’s been a great day filled with family, laughter, and delicious foods. Somehow, though, you still have gobs of leftovers. Before you panic about hearing your family complain about turkey casserole for the next week, read our blog for a few fun ideas that will help you use up those leftovers.

Make a plate, baby!

I mean, everyone knows the Thanksgiving leftover plate is one of the tastiest things in the world. Those flavors have had some extra time to get acquainted with each other and, oooooo, it makes for some good eatin’. Just fill your plate with your favorite leftovers and heat it up your preferred way.

Make leftover tacos

Ok, I run the risk here of being sent to food jail but I saw this idea on the ‘gram and it looked intriguing. You can check out @thejoshelkin for details but basically you are going to make a standing taco shell out of a tortilla, turkey gravy, and stuffing mix. Bake. Fill it with any Thanksgiving leftovers you want. Eat. Enjoy. Never speak of it again.

Make leftover biscuits

By that, I mean biscuits filled with leftovers..not leftover biscuits (although who are we to judge-we are doulas after all-if you want to stuff your biscuit with leftover biscuits). Like the taco thing above, I also got this idea from the internet. Basically, you need a can of refrigerated biscuits. You are going to get those biscuits out of the can and fill the insides with a dollop of Thanksgiving goodness. Bake and eat! Actual details about how to make these can be found here .

Make the World’s Best Thanksgiving Sandwich

Since I am not a selfish person, I will share with you how to make the world’s best thanksgiving sandwich. This sandwich is the stuff made of dreams. Here’s what you do:
1. Toast 2 pieces of white bread (sure you can use wheat, but we aren’t trying to win a health contest here)
2. Put a layer of Duke’s mayonnaise on one of the pieces of bread. (don’t argue about this, Duke’s is the best. It’s science.)
3. Now you spread a layer of that cranberry sauce on the other piece of bread.
4. Now, if you prefer all your foods to be warm, go aheda and heat up some turkey and some dressing to your preferred temp.
5. Put the turkey and dressing on the cranberry side of the sandwich.
6. For some extra pizazz, go ahead and add a slice of cheese (I rec cheddar) on top of the turkey and dressing.
7. Put the mayonnaise side of the bread on top to complete the sandwich.
8. Stick in under the broiler or toaster oven long enough to melt the cheese a bit.
9. Eat it and then go into a glorious food coma.
10. Repeat as many times as you want.

Hopefully, this gives you a few ideas for those leftovers. Bon appetit!
