Convenient classes to fit your busy schedule. Comprehensive, unbiased education to fit your needs.

Doulas of Raleigh now offers classes for Childbirth, Newborn Care, and Infant Feeding

We understand that there is a lot to take in when you start thinking about pregnancy, delivery, your newborn, and how to feed them. We also understand that you have limited time to devote to long, multi-day classes. This is why we now offer a la carte education - you decide which classes are right for you. Come one day for a few hours or take them all - it’s up to you!

Childbirth Education - The How, When, & Why

When it comes to finding the right childbirth education class, how do you know which one is right for you? At Doulas of Raleigh, our How, When, & Why Childbirth Education is designed to fit every birthing parent. That's because our curriculum is not designed around any particular method or style of childbirth. Instead, it is meant to provide expecting parents with the knowledge they need to feel prepared and confident when the big day comes, regardless of how they choose to birth.

Our one day, three hour How, When, & Why Childbirth Curriculum will leave you and your birth partner confident about the stages of birth, how to communicate your needs, and will provide you and your partner with the tools to help you stay as comfortable as possible throughout the entire labor and birth process. This class will cover:

Anatomy of the Gestating Person and How It All Works Together During Labor and Birth
The Labor Process and Stages of Labor
Pain Relief Options (Both Medicated and Non-Medicated)
        Positions for Labor and Birth
        Interventions
What to Expect During the First Hour After Birth

All topics will be covered via discussion, visuals, auditory aids, and hands-on practice to meet the needs of all adult learners. If you or your partner have special learning needs, our childbirth ed team will be happy to accommodate you.

Infant Feeding 101

How you feed your baby is one of the most important decisions you will make as a new parent. We want you to feel informed, educated, and confident about that decision. This is why Doulas of Raleigh offers an Infant Feeding 101 class. We recognize that what works for one family, may not work for another. Or sometimes what you planned is not what ultimately happens. For these reasons, our class covers all feeding methods.

Our one day, 2.5 hour Infant Feeding Class will provide you with all the information you need to get feeding started off right. And will also prepare you for any feeding challenges that might arise in the first year. This class will cover:

Multiple Feeding Methods - Breast, Bottle, and Formula
        Initiating Breastfeeding
        Troubleshooting Common Feeding Problems
        Introducing Solids

All topics will be covered via discussion, visuals, auditory aids, and hands-on practice to meet the needs of all adult learners. If you or your partner have special learning needs, our education team will be happy to accommodate you.
