How to Be a Perfect Mom
Is there such a thing as the perfect mom? It’s certainly something that new mothers agonize over and pressure themselves to attain. But can it be done? Actually…sure. Being the perfect mom is easy. Let me show you how.
As a mom myself to two teenagers and a postpartum doula with over a decade of experience, I’ve seen quite a lot of “mom-ing” in my time. And here are some of the things I’ve observed when it comes to perfect moms:
Perfect moms breastfeed. They also formula feed. They also do both.
Perfect moms co-sleep. Perfect moms put their babies to sleep in their cribs/bassinets.
Perfect mom’s make all their baby’s first foods from scratch. Perfect moms buy store bought jars and pouches.
Perfect moms babywear. Perfect moms use a stroller.
Perfect moms have babies that sleep through the night. Perfect moms have babies that wake up every hour.
Perfect moms follow nap routines. Perfect moms let babies nap on the fly.
Perfect moms cloth diaper. Perfect moms use disposables.
Perfect moms work outside the home. Perfect moms stay home with their kids.
Are you starting to sense a pattern here? Allow me to share a few other observations that I have made when it comes to perfect moms…
Perfect moms don’t know the answer to every question.
Perfect moms mess up all the time.
Perfect moms say I’m sorry and acknowledge when they’re wrong.
Perfect moms lose their tempers from time to time.
Perfect moms need a break sometimes.
And the one rule that every perfect mom follows: Perfect moms love their kids unconditionally, even when it’s hard, even when they are crashing out, and even on their worst days.
Because here is what I know to be true about perfect moms - YOU are the perfect mom for your baby. No matter what choices you make or what mistakes might happen, you are your baby’s whole world and you know your little one best. Through it all - the ups and downs - you will always remain the perfect, right mom for your child. And that’s a fact.
