Family Fall Fun in the Triangle

It’s time for one of the best seasons in NC; Fall! That means the weather is going to be beautiful for outside activities. We have collected a few fun options that you can do with your family while enjoying the Fall season.

Pumpkin Patches

Most pumpkin patches in the area can be found at local farms as a part of their larger fall festivals but if you are looking for only a pumpkin patch experience, there are a couple of options in the area. DJ’s Berry Patch in Apex is a great place to pick pumpkins with your family. Another option is The Family Farm on Avent Ferry in Holly Springs. They have a large selection of pumpkins as well as lots of opportunities for some great Fall photo-ops. Another option is visiting the NC State Farmer’s Market in Raleigh during the month of October. While not technically a pumpkin patch, there will be lots of pumpkins for sale.

Fall Festivals

We can’t think about Fall without thinking about all those fun Fall Festivals! Luckily we have several options here in the Triangle. Admission prices range from $15-20 per person and includes activities like picking a pumpkin, enjoying a corn maze, seeing some farm animals, and going on a hayride. Philips Farm in Cary, Grasshopper Farms in Knightdale, Naylor Farms in Fuquay, Page Farms in Raleigh, and Crossroads Farm in Wendell are all great options for a great day of family fun.

Trick or Treat

If you are looking for a family-friendly Trick or Treat event, check out Trick or Treat the Trails in Garner. This event takes place on October 31st from 3pm-5:30pm at White Deer Park. There is a one mile paved trail loop in the park with local businesses handing out candy along the trail. Stop by the Nature Center to see a few animal exhibits. There will also be a few food trucks available for concessions. This event is family-friendly and does not allow for scary costumes.

Trails

Sweater weather makes us want to get outside and explore! Luckily, the Triangle has a lot of easy hiking trails for families. We highly recommend doing the loop around the pond at Yates Mill Pond Park in Raleigh. It’s beautiful with the trees all blazing with different colors. You may even catch the big water wheel turning at the old mill! Another great trail loop can be found at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve in Cary.
